Iron Camp Grit Test



Purpose:This self-assessment is designed to measure your level of grit, which is the passion and perseverance to achieve long-term goals. Understanding your grit level can help in cultivating resilience, stamina, and endurance to navigate challenges and thrive in your training at Iron Camp.

Instructions:Rate yourself on the following

statements from 1 to 5, where:


  • 1 = Not like me at all

  • 2 = Not much like me

  • 3 = Somewhat like me

  • 4 = Mostly like me

  • 5 = Very much like me



Statements

  1. New ideas and projects sometimes distract me from previous ones.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  2. Setbacks don’t discourage me; I bounce back quickly.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  3. I have difficulty maintaining my focus on projects that take more than a few months to complete.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  4. I am diligent and never give up.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  5. I have achieved a goal that took years of work.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  6. I often set a goal but later choose to pursue a different one.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  7. I am a hard worker.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  8. I have confidence that I will achieve my dreams, even when faced with significant obstacles.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  9. I get distracted easily when trying to focus on long-term goals.(Rate from 1-5) _______

  10. I have overcome setbacks to conquer an important challenge.(Rate from 1-5) _______


Scoring:

  • Reverse score items 1, 3, 6, and 9. (e.g., 5 becomes 1; 4 becomes 2; etc.)

  • Sum all the scores to get your total grit score. The highest possible score is 50, and the lowest is 10.


Interpretation:

  • 40-50: Exceptionally gritty. You are determined, focused and resilient. Keep leveraging this strength to meet your long-term goals.

  • 30-39: Above average grit. With a bit of improvement, you can significantly enhance your ability to persevere and achieve your long-term ambitions.

  • 20-29: Moderate grit. Consider developing strategies to enhance your focus and resilience to achieve success.

  • 10-19: Emerging grit. Explore practices to build more resilience, focus, and steadfastness to enhance your long-term goal achievement.


Action Steps:Reflect on the areas where you scored lower. Develop strategies and set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals to enhance those aspects of your grit. Implement daily practices, seek feedback, and adjust your strategies as needed.
